As city dwellers and very busy business people, our clients needed this modern home set in the woods to be a retreat and respite for their family of five. They wanted an “Aspen ski lodge” feel with some ethnic luxe details. We achieved this by layering, such as the marble in the entry and handmade lights by Heather Levine, a leather bench, wallpaper, great lighting, lots of Moroccan wedding blanket pillows, Swedish curly grey shearling skins on the furniture, and new hardware on built-ins. We were inspired by the natural palette seen through the big windows.
We designed a playful custom double bunkbed for 4 with trundle beds that pull out to sleep 6 for the kids to bring friends up for the weekends. We put a beautiful French DeGournay wallpaper inside of the bookcases, and the family has a beloved Weimaraner dog that inspired other elements in the home. The lighting in the master bedroom was a custom “glass cloud” chandelier, and we used industrial pendants over the guest bed for an economical way to bring a lot of interest to the space.
